Postal Savings Bank of China (PSBC) recently passed Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) DEV ML3 appraisal, showing that the maturity level of its independent R&D capability and project management capacity have reached new heights and that it has begun to integrate with mainstream international standards.
As an important milestone in the technology development of PSBC, it lays a solid foundation for the bank's self-control abilities.
CMMI is a process improvement training and appraisal program. Administered by the CMMI Institute, a subsidiary of ISACA, it was developed at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU).
It is required for U.S. Department of Defense and government contracts, especially in software development. CMU claims CMMI can be used to guide process improvements across a project, division, or an entire organization. CMMI defines the following maturity levels for processes: Initial, Managed and Defined. Currently supported is CMMI Version 1.3. CMMI is registered at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by CMU.
CMMI DEV ML3 indicates the maturity level is three. Processes used by the organization are characterized as proactive.
The PSBC Software R&D Center said it will promote the software development process management system in all its R&D projects.
