Extreme weather conditions were also reported in Jiangxi, Guizhou and Anhui provinces along with the municipality of Chongqing.
The storms triggered flash floods that inundated cities, disrupted traffic and telecommunications and affected the operation of the China Post Group mail and Internet services.
Cadres and employees of China Post coped with the disaster and stayed at their posts during the floods.
They repaired fiber networks and leaking roofs while salvaging rescue materials and packages day and night to ensure operations continued.
The tornado damaged 18 China Post Group branches in Chongqing, among which seven were flooded, 11 suffered leaking roofs, five had damaged equipment and five locations suspended work.
Five China Post branches in Chongqing had resumed normal services by June 22.
