China Post is to issue a set of one commemorative stamp entitled The 70th Anniversary of the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet on August 19, 2021. The face value of the stamp is 1.2 yuan, and the planned circulation is 7 million sets.

On May 23, 1951, the Agreement of the Central People's Government and the Local Government of Tibet on Measures for the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet (the 17-Article Agreement) was signed. The people of Tibet broke free from the fetters of invading imperialism for good, embarking on a bright road of unity, progress and development with all the other ethnic groups in China. In the new era, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at the core and with the vigorous support of the whole country, Tibet has eradicated extreme poverty. Enjoying a stable social environment, economic and cultural prosperity, and a sound eco-environment, the people now lead better lives and live in contentment. A brand new socialist Tibet has taken shape.

The foreground of the picture shows the scene of local people singing and dancing and celebrating together. Behind the people, the new Tibetan houses are clean and beautiful, and the cattle and sheep are fat, showing a thriving scene. The background of the picture shows the Fuxing bullet train on the plateau, lined with towering snow-capped mountains and other elements, depicting a beautiful picture of the development of Tibet in the new era.

The stamp is designed by Rong Tie and Shen Jiahong and printed with photogravure technology by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited.

The set of stamp will be on sale for a period of six months at the designated outlets of China Post, philatelic mall online, the app of China Post, philatelic shop of micro post office on WeChat and the WeChat mini program. To present more information about the stamp, China Post will release the digital contents through the WeChat mini program “Encyclopedia of China Philately and Stamps”, where viewers can learn more about the stamp via its AR function.
